I am Nick, 34 years old, and I live with my girlfriend Caroline and our new addition Céleste in the De Pijp neighborhood in Amsterdam.

Outside of work in Spring, I play hockey and enjoy going out on my motorcycle. Additionally, I have been attempting to learn how to kite surf over the past year. I’m unsure how to incorporate this into my new life, but I’ll probably be found more often at the Vondeltuin instead of the beach 😊.

The best thing about real estate is that almost everyone has an opinion. Buildings are central to our lives, whether for work, living, or recreation. Being involved with it daily and witnessing new developments up close excites me.

As a real estate appraiser at DTZ Zadelhoff and KroesePaternotte, I saw many beautiful residential buildings and shops from the inside and outside during my first working years. I learned how financiers and (institutional) investors look at real estate. But after four years of appraising, I began to itch to get closer to the action. The opportunity arose at Spring Real Estate within the Capital Markets team, where I focused on the residential market that was already familiar to me.

While we serve the entire spectrum of this asset class, I find the new development projects the most beautiful. Although limited in the advisor role, you still contribute a little to a newly built environment.

In addition to the space you have to develop yourself, in my case with an MRE study, it is impressive to see Spring grow from a shared lunch at a (cramped) table in Amsterdam to an organization with over 100 employees and offices in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and Valencia. Yet, despite that growth, the DNA of the club is preserved, where there is much room for fun, reflected in the many drinks, company parties, and annual winter sports trips.
